Jr. Historians After-School Program brings historical figures to life this Winter Session 2023

Junior Historians’ Living History Festival 2022

Can you name any local historical pioneers? How about Jacqueline Cochran, John McCallum, Caleb Cook, and Katherine Siva Saubel? During the Winter Session of the Junior Historians After-School Program, happening January 23 to March 15, 2023, kids will learn about important historical figures who made an impact on the Coachella Valley. They will tackle our local history to analyze how it has changed over time, learn about the diverse individuals who built our community, and develop pride in our community’s history. The session culminates with a fun Living History Festival on Saturday, March 18, 2023, when students will dress up as one of the historical figures they have studied during the 8-week session and reenact the person's life for family, friends, and museum visitors.

The Jr. Historians Program is for children in Grades 3, 4, and 5 and meets after school on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30PM to 5:30PM at the Coachella Valley History Museum. The cost of registration is $50 per child (+ optional $3.47 online credit card processing fee).

To register your child for the upcoming session, visit cvhm.org/education.

We welcome volunteers to help us with the Jr. Historians Program, too. If interested, please email us at jr.historians@cvhm.org.
