Because of the wonderful people dedicated to sharing, preserving, and interpreting Coachella Valley History - like you! - the Museum is expanding and growing at a fast pace. Add to this our increasing visibility in the community, and it's easy to understand the need for more help on our campus. Meet our new staff members!
Cory - Grounds Maintenance Therese - Program Development Cynthia - Office Administrator & Assistant to the Board of Trustees We also want to thank Mayra Garcia for the dedication she showed during her time as Museum Office Manager. She moves on to other endeavors, and we wish her the best. |

UPCOMING EVENTS & EXHIBITS
|
The Coachella Valley History Museum will be presenting a Toy Exhibition this September. This next exhibit represents toys from the 1900s to the 1980s. Porcelain dolls and board games will be displayed, to name a few. Charlie Brown figures will be present as well as the “Dolls of All Lands”. These dolls formed part of a promotion by the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company and Blue Bonnet Margarine. An array of dolls from thirty-six countries could be won if one fills up one’s car tank for 99 cents or mail in a coupon with $1 enclosed in the 1950s and 1960s. Archivists Linda Beal and Regan Hunter, together with Vice President Yvonne Weischedel, are involved with this project. The exhibit will be put on view in Pioneer Hall.

Jr. Historian After-School Program |
The Coachella Valley History Museum’s popular after-school program, Jr. Historians, has received a grant from the Anderson Children’s Foundation to fund its day-to-day operations for the upcoming season. In addition, the Women’s Club of Rancho Mirage has provided funding that will be used for one-time purchases and to refresh Jr. Historian’s collection of old-fashioned games. These funds provide a cost-effective educational program. |
Japanese Memorial Garden Project |
A new addition to our permanent Museum exhibits is the refurbished Japanese Memorial Garden. It can be considered an exhibit as it represents an important historic event in the Coachella Valley. Japanese immigrants have played an essential role in establishing farms and businesses in the east valley from the early 1900s to the present. |
